Making my own chalkboard paint. However, I don’t actually have any projects in mind that would require the use of chalkboard paint. Suggestions?

  1. How about a big piece of wall painted for the kids to use as a chalkboard?

  2. How about roll it on the bathroom floor so you have something to do while taking a crap.

  3. Okay, my brain is spinning. I had no idea that you could make your own! Now, what do I do with this knowledge?

This lady has some cute ideas on her blog.

Also on her right side bar you can see the chalkboard door she did in her kitchen, it is really cute.

Tell me about the paint, how does it work etc. I have a chalkboard cupboard in my kitchen that need to be redone.

  5. More like something to do whilst I’m sitting there waiting for Campbell to take a crap.

  7. I love chalkboard paint!
Here is a recipe a la Martha Stewart:

    Custom Colors Chalkboard Paint How-To
Start with flat-finish latex paint in any shade. For small areas, such as a door panel, mix 1 cup at a time.

    1. Pour 1 cup of paint into a container. Add 2 tablespoons of unsanded tile grout. Mix with a paint stirrer, carefully breaking up clumps.

    2. Apply paint with a roller or a sponge paintbrush to a primed or painted surface. Work in small sections, going over the same spot several times to ensure full, even coverage. Let dry.

    3. Smooth area with 150-grit sandpaper, and wipe off dust.

    4. To condition: Rub the side of a piece of chalk over entire surface. Wipe away residue with a barely damp sponge.

  8. Paint some walls in your house and let the kid’s go to town with the chalk.

  9. I like the door idea. Your pantry door would be totally cute and you could keep grocery lists on there.

The top of a child sized table is another idea.
