Yes, yes do it! This might be just the push I need to get my mom's old piano that she's been begging me to take. Of course, she would be horrified if i wanted to paint it and probably wouldn't give it to me if I told her I was doing it!
I would have never thought to paint a piano. But I never think to do a lot of things. Those pianos are so cool! Make sure you post a pic after you're done!
That IS crazy, but brave and awesome! I can't wait to see how it turns out. I've been thinking of painting my cabinets, but I'm not sure what will match my dark green-black granite countertops. You're so crafty. I'm jealous.
Yep, i'm with Lei, too. Although, painting a piano is better than the wood-grain contact paper that my piano was covered in when my dad bought it at an auction.
Rest assured the finish on this piano was CRAP….and I'm pretty sure the last time it was "refinished" there was brown paint involved. The inside of the lid (ROFL, I'm sure there's a real name for that part) is gorgeous. The outside? Rough and lumpy and no wood grain to speak of.
I almost painted my piano last summer, but then I ran out of nice weather for ventilation. (I'm not moving that beast!) Let me know how it goes; if you sand it, ect. I want to see how it turns out for you!

Definitely go for it! It will look very charming!
The musician in me is offended at the idea of taking paint to an instrument and the design lover in me is like, that's a fab idea!
I'm with Lei, those pictures made me cringe. lol. But I can't wait to see the final product!
