Boo!

Macy had a friend over yesterday. I forced them to help me work on their Halloween costumes for a bit, but we ran out of tulle.
I can’t take those two to Hobby Lobby without them NEEDING to do a project.

They decided to Mod Podge some letters. Here are Macy’s:

Cute, right? And totally do-able with minor supervision for kids in the 8 & up range.

Trace the letters face down on the back of your patterned paper.

Paint the edges of the wood letters black.
While the paint is drying, cut out the letters.
Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the wood and stick down the paper.
When that’s dry, trim any over hang. We sanded in a downward direction to get all the little pieces off.
Borrow some Distress Ink from your neighbor and ink up the edges.
Mod Podge over everything.
I think we’re going to mount them to a board and hang the sign on the front door.

And whilst I was typing up this post, this happened:

Pretty sure he swallowed it.

cute! love the design on the letters.

  3. Laughed out loud at the chomp taken out of that container. I found a googly eye in my daughter's diaper last week. I'm sure the chomp will reappear soon too.

  8. If you do mount it on a board I would love to see the finished project. It is cute–I think my girls would love making that. Aly keeps asking me when we are getting the halloween things out. Ummm maybe when it is no longer 100 outside.

  9. See! I told you! I bought fabric for Halloween costumes a month ago. And where is the fabric? Still in the bag from the store. I knew you would get yours done before me!

Super cute letters! I need to make sure my kids never see your blog, or they'll find out exactly how boring their mother is. You ROCK Char!

  10. Okay, ICK on the styrofoam. My nearly 2 yr old would totally do that.

I'm so glad you shared the idea of the letters today! More specifically, having kids do them. I spent the entire day mod podging pictures and letters on blocks for wedding centerpieces (my sister's) and it didn't even occur to me to have my girls help with the less fidgety pieces. Doh! I think we need to get some letters this week.

    Thanks!
