I cut out the center so there'd be less bulk…kind of like a donut. I'm not sure what else my "secret" would be…I really just smoothed and pulled and went slowly.

I used a clear glass plate and did fabric for the inside circle on the back and then laid another pattern over the larger part and mod podged it all down. You could paint a letter on the front then, or whatever. Worked beautifully.
