Family News Chalkboard

***Don’t forget to enter the Expressions Vinyl giveaway here.***

You all know of my love for the IKEA as-is section, right? When I picked up the cabinet door for this project, I also found a whole shopping cart full of smooth black cabinet doors. And they were 99 cents a piece. I bought 3 in assorted sizes and decided I’d figure out what I was going to do with them later. BC was thrilled! Winking smile

I tried to come up with a newspaper-y title for our board. Coester Chronicles was as good as it got. I cut out some white vinyl with my Silhouette and applied it to the top of the board (the font is Cloister Black). I put a saw tooth picture hanger on the back and hung it up right next to the front door.

Remember those wet erase chalk markers I mentioned a week or two ago? They work like a dream on my cabinet door turned chalkboard.

Such a cute idea! I think I can copy that one! And, seeing the wall of clocks brings back good memories. Plus, I am amazed that you keep all of them at the same time. I think my oven, car, alarm clock and all of the various clocks at my house are never on the same time zone. :) I figure that is somehwat good, then I can be early or late at my own discrection. :)

you always have such great stuff hanging up in your home. have you considered posting a photo tour of your house? you could have a blog post about how you have craftily personalized the decor in each room. It would be like a room-by-room inspiration guide. :-)

  3. ok… i have a question about the chalk markers. i have used them on a couple of projects and have problems erasing/wiping the boards. it's almost as though it stains the board. do you do anything differently to prep your surface?? what does your board look like when it's wiped clean?

    thanks!

    We don't have an IKEA! or a pottery barn outlet…some people… ;)

    It looks awesome, Char!

  8. When we re-do our mudroom I have one of these planned. Love it.

  9. If you posted about the clocks, I missed it! I've love to see a picture of the clock shelves. Is there a post about them you can direct me to?
