It was horrible.

Glad to see other opinions on the topic though. I've had instructors tell me it's okay to leave in and others say remove. I usually like to sew slowly, so I just remove. Makes me feel better.

A couple of weeks ago (using my zipper foot) the needle did miss the pin which was good but I wasnt paying attention and it went right through my finger 3 times and needle was in the down position (with my finger still in it) when it finally stopped!! Always remove pins before you get to them, not only can it mess up the timing it can also cause burrs in the metal parts of your machine. Just thought I'd share what I was taught :0) I have done that (before taking these classes) and actually broke a part in my machine that cost me about $200 to fix.

It will slowly screw up the timing on the machine and you will have to bring it in for a check up! Plus I cringe just thinking about that metal noise, grunting, and beeping that ensues!
