Briefly/Told You I’m Not Going Anywhere

I’m over on Less Cake {more frosting} today as part of Lara’s One Word series.  Go here, if you want to see what my word is and why I chose it.

And, I appreciate all the comments and emails and texts and phone calls re: my post yesterday.  You guys really are the best.

One thing I did not anticipate?

15 or 20 emails asking me how to get into the business of blogging. Open-mouthed smile

I’m not going to answer them all individually (on account of that kind of making me do the exact thing I’m trying to get away from…spending hours on emails).  I do, however, want to direct you to a couple of posts that might answer those questions for those who want to know.

Mandi from Vintage Revivals talks about how to make money blogging here.

The Crafterminds girls talk about it here.  (I also love this article about why readers hate it when you make money.)

And, if anyone else has any great resources, feel free to leave them in the comments…I’ve gotta get back to my chalkboard paint.

XOXOXO

That haters article was eye-opening. (And, this tee shirt girl wants THAT shirt.) I’ve known you for a long time and I hope that if I didn’t, I still wouldn’t have hated you for making money.

It was really fun for me to watch this grow, to say “I knew her when she had two kids and a broken leg and was living in pitsville waiting for her house to be done.” Or, the other part where I tell people that you introduced me to potstickers that weekend when you gave me a much-needed break.

Then I found the timing of your break-up with business blogging comical to me personally, because I was just about to ask you, on behalf of a friend, how to ask bloggers to review a product.

There a my rambles. Some things never change.

  3. I think it’s funny that people emailed you about getting into the business of blogging. And great response on sending them to somebody else’s advice. Go you! And I can’t wait to see what you’re doing with chalkboard paint. Back to my laundry…and my silhouette. :)

  4. I have read that “Haters’ post before! FUNNY!

Love that you are possibly knee-deep in chalkboard paint ;)

*SIGH* I found you during/before Thanksgiving, right after the hilarious post on FB regarding Christmas trees and wreaths in response to if it was too early for Santa at the Mall.
That makes me laugh every time I think of it.

I hope you find what you are looking for. I wish for you lazy days with your kids, happiness from giggles (or the other way around) and moments that will set forth memories years down the road.
I hope you fix what is broken and create what has yet to be created.

Most of all, I wish you LoooOOoOOOooovvveee… (sorry, couldn’t resist). :)

*hugs and best of luck to you!
    Sherry

  6. Love your post over there today!

  7. Thank you SO much for coming to visit me today. And for telling people that you did. :D
You are the best! Tell the chalkboard paint HI for me!

  8. I am in the midst of a family before blogging moment myself. I had to look at my priorities and admit that I was not having fun with either (family OR blogging) because I felt each was pulling me in a different direction.
So I stepped back from blogging until I can do it on my own terms. Harder to step back from family, not because they are too young, rather we are an old bunch and I was raised to take care of my elders and enjoy the kids while they have time for me. (Do you know the song Cats in the Cradle?)
Balance is a tricky thing to achieve.

Thank you for the links. I am going to check them out. I also started a Pinterest board of links to Blogging Business posts. And Etsy had a great series on Quit Your Day Job.

I’m going to strongly disagree with #1 on the haters article and say I come to this blog because I love you!! Sure, you give me inspiration. But who cares, I can get that walking down the street. I come here because you make me laugh! (OK, So maybe that is a bit selfish, I apologize). Anyways, Haters article guy, not right about everything!!
