SO much better

This was my ironing board cover this morning:

This is my ironing board now:

Tutorials can be found here, here, and here. I did a wide 3 thread stitch on my serger and then threaded the string from the old cover through the stitching with a doll maker’s needle. I also added 2 thin layers of cotton batting. Fabric is Heather Bailey’s Pop Garden.

And, the contest is over at midnight. Stay tuned for winners in the morning!

    What’s an ironing board? ;)

It looks great — way to be thrifty!

  2. Unfortunately, it wasn’t thrifty. I went in to buy the half yard to recover it and discovered a Labor Day sale. I came out with SIX yards of fabric. I should have just bought a new board. ROFL.

  3. being thrifty isn’t all its cracked up to be anyway.

it’s gorgeous, how will you bring yourself to iron anything on it?

  4. also, hows the quilt coming?

    Char,
You are killing me! You even have a CUTE ironing board to go along with your perfectly clean, cute home, and adoreble family. Quit putting us all to shame.
P.S. all that sewing talk might as well been in Finnish, I can’t understand a word of it! You need to teach me.

  6. Cute.

  7. Jami – wait your turn, she’s giving me lessons first.

But seriously char, you are making me look really bad.

  8. I do not understand the sewing talk, but I love the board. Great fabric!

  9. So cute!
I was wondering too if you had worked on the quilt any more? I wanna see pictures. I sent my friend to see your blog, so she could check out the quilt. I was LOL when I told her your name. :)

So what is the next project, what did you buy fabric for?

  10. I love it! I may even like ironing if I had a cute cover.

  11. Holy freak, how much do you iron to get your board looking like that? What did you do with the old cover? Use it as a nighty?
