  1. it's pretty easy to remove the tank and that opens up access quite a bit. turn off the water, flush until the tank is empty, and unscrew every place that the tank is connected (including the water supply).

you have boys. you might want to add a "clean where the tank meets the seat really well before you get up close and personal with the screws" step at the beginning.

  2. hahahahaha! and that's all i have.

  3. Very carefully. Good luck.

Make sure the seat is down and the toilet has been flushed. Especially if Cameron has used it lately.

I covered the tank of mine with saran wrap. Then I just rolled behind it. It seemed to work fine. Have fun!

Were those shouts of joy I heard coming from your general direction yesterday?

I've done it two ways: Once I just covered the tank with an old sheet and taped the brush to something long enough to reach behind the tank.

The next time we were replacing the flooring and we had to take the toilet out anyway. Removing the tank is a pain, but it would definitely make painting easier. Good luck!

We never did…as our poor new homeowners have probably discovered. We only painted as far in as we could see. ;)

Same with the washer. Whoops. How's that for lazy???

We just kind of reach around everything and slap it on and hope nobody notices how messy it is. Who really checks behind the toilet anyway?

  8. Always wondered that very same thing. When you figure it out, come on over. Jade's bathroom needs a paint job.

You can buy very tiny rollers made by rubbermaid that fit perfectly behind the toilet. They are white and come in varying sizes. And really, who looks behind the toilet anyway? I love your blog, btw!

  11. I did the same as the other's- the ones lazy like me… just reach in as far as possible and then forget about it. Sure I painted the back of the tank a bit, sure there's a blank spot if you ever remove the toilet, you'd see it, but hey, who DOES that? LOL.

From a professionals stand point. In the condo… I just skipped behind the toilets… no one looks there so I figured it would be okay!
