Quilted Table Runner

Well hello there, internet.

What’s new?

Not much here. Remind me next time not to have quite so many kids. Or at least forbid them from signing up for anything.

Soccer and football are consuming us.

Sometimes at the end of the day, we’re so tired we can’t even poop.

At least he didn’t fall off and crack his head open this time?

I have found time to squeeze in a little sewing. I meant to get to this last month, for Create With Me over on UCreate.

Amy’s tutorial is fabulous. And she’s WAY nice…didn’t even put me in her spam folder when I told her I want to come sew with her.

I made mine all triangley instead of using strips. I’ll post exactly how I did that in the next day or two.

Guess where else it looks fabulous?

On top of this beauty.

I can’t decide where I like it more.

I might need to make another one.

  1. oh I definitely like it on the orange beauty best.

Beautiful table runner! I got a really good laugh at your little boy asleep on the potty! Yesterday both of my girls feel asleep on the way to dance class. As I was yelling back to them, "Wake up! It's time to dance!" I had to laugh at myself. We just want them to do everything but they would probably be just as happy playing at home. :)

  3. That turned out fabulous. Love love love what fabrics you used!

  4. Kim's Treasures says:

    I love the table runner!

  5. HAH!!!

That is a FANTASTIC picture! (Of your boy. The table runner's nice too, but the asleep on the pot picture? AMAZING. :)

  6. Oh man, I love that table runner! I want to lick the fabrics. And for whatever reason, this picture I can totally see the orange-ness of the cabinet. LOVE the color.

  7. Thank you for this post! Totally my first laugh out loud for the day! AND I'm totally doing that table runner.

  8. love it so much. and the buffet looks much more orange there.

  9. I love this runner, it is absolutely beautiful!! I am looking forward to a the tutorial on how you made it!

This came up on my blog feed – "Crap I've made" with a picture of someone on the toilet. made me laugh!

  11. Kari @ Ucreate says:

Char…You're AMAZING!! I always love your twist on things and the skinny triangle look with polkat dots is fabulous {I know I use that word waaay to much}, but it is!

  12. I need to do this runner too… I bought Christmas fabric last Christmas to make a runner and never did it. I'm good like that. I like the triangles though!

  13. I, too, like it on the orange chest. I'll get those measurements to you. Sorry to take so long. What was BC talking about?

  14. Caroline @ Atelier Caroline says:

I would make a second one !! Maybe a bit shorter, maybe oval shaped but the revamped sideboard definitely lives well with the happy colors

  15. Ruth @ Hammer and Thread says:

I love it, It makes me want to play backgammon.

  16. Sassy Sites! says:

OH! I love it! The colors are amazing! I agree, it looks great on both… but I love it on the orange buffet! Or maybe just make a second one! :)

  17. The Wohlleb Family says:

    Beautiful!
    I love those colors together!!!!

Your poor little (tired) guy. Our little boy just started school, it really takes everything out of them!

  18. Oh my! Why don't my kids get that tired? Mine never randomly fall asleep places.

I LOVE the table runner you did! I don't think I could ever do triangles so nicely.

  19. the potty shot is priceless! Hang on to that one to show at his wedding..on a giant screen, lol. Runner is beautiful. I like the fabric you chose!

  20. Turned out awesome! I can't wait to try triangles myself!

I so know that feeling of being too tired to poop at the end of the day. It's kind of how I feel right now.

Maybe after soccer and football end, we can quilt together. :)

  21. Kim @ seven thirty three says:

GORGEOUS! And oooooo is your son going to be mad at you when he is older!!!

  22. Love the runner but ditto on the last comment. It's funny, but you need to keep it a private joke. Would you want a picture of you here? Just sayin, he'll be a teen soon.

  23. Catnap, you obviously don't know Char's family at all. If you did, you'd know their personalities well enough to know that her posting this picture is right up their alley. Char's not an ignorant jackass, out to screw up her children's lives. Just sayin'.

  24. You for sure need to make another one! Love it, the triangles were a good call. :)

  25. Kristine Robinson says:

Oh, you need to make another one – it looks great on the cabinet AND on the table! Too fabulous not to have two!

Catnap – all I can say is if you don't like the pic, don't look. You would have to know this fabulous little boy and his FABULOUS parents to know he will be JUST FINE. Just sayin'…

  26. I can't stop laughing at the irony of your blog name, and your little one on the toilet.

I love that table runner! So cute. I think I like it more on the orange table. :)

  27. Oh Char, your photo of your son is so cute. Somehow I think that will be one of those treasured photos that you'll want to share with your grandchildren some day!

Love your table runner too. Great design, use of colors & prints.

I selected you for a Sunshine Award because you make me laugh…check out my blog!

  29. Amy @ Increasingly Domestic says:

Gorgeous! I have been wanting to make a runner for my table and this may be just the inspiration I needed:) Thanks!

  30. Very cute table runner! (And even cuted kid! Man he looks pooped! Or maybe he's wiped out? Soooo sorry. I can't seem to resist a bad pun!) Have a blessed weekend!

  31. Do you really think this young boy is going to appreciate a "private moment" being published to the entire world. I'd rethink this post. It's rude and I don't think it's fair to him.

  32. I'm shocked and appalled that people seriously come to other people's blogs and tell them that they think their posts/pictures are rude. You can't be polite enough yourself to send a private message via email or something? Tacky.

  33. Of course Sheri would say this…her pants are optional. LOL :)

  34. I think that is the funniest picture I have ever seen…my kids have the ability to fall asleep almost anywhere…this is a new one for me though! Love the table runner too!

  35. Meagan @ Snippets And Yarns says:

I'm still not too keen on the orange sidebar/buffet thing…. but that table runner looks great on it. I think having the other bright colors on it somehow tones down the orange a bit and makes it look better to me. :-)

The pic of your boy is cute. I'm sure his future wife will enjoy seeing that at some point!

  36. PeaceLoveApplesauce says:

Oh my goodness.. The toilet pic is hilarious!
    Love the runner too!
    xoxo.

  37. Love the potty picture!
Gotta know how to do the triangles in the runner! It's absolutely beautiful!

  38. Michelle@Somedaycrafts says:

That is the best picture ever! Lvoe that table runner. SO beautiful. Looks amazing on that ORANGE buffet!

  39. The runner looks fabulous, who'd have thunk orange could look so good…

  40. Ohhh I love it! And I think I have all of those fabrics already in my stash!!!

  41. I♥naptime w/ Chocolate Sundaes says:

LOVE the table runner!!! So cute! You definitely need one for every room. And that picture made my day…

  42. Mae Belle Creations and Musings says:

Hmm… kinda agree with a couple of other posters here, but only because we live in a scary world these days. Cute table runner, though.. the style is great! Thank you for sharing that part :)

  43. Clara in Paradise says:

Cute picture and table runner. And, can I say I covet your blue vase?

  44. beautiful table runner.

  45. Kimbo West @ a girl and a glue gun says:

I featured your quilt runner thing on my blog today!

    kimboscrafts.blogspot.com

  46. Was a tutorial ever done for this. I’m a beginber and need all the help I can get. Thanks!

  47. Did you end up posting how this was made? I would love to make one similar!! :)

  48. Unquestionably believe that which you stated.
Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the simplest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I certainly get irked while people consider worries that they plainly
don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out
the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
