Campbell doesn’t really like costumes.
Heck, he doesn’t even like clothes (basketball shorts excluded…it’s that Asperger’s/SPD thing).
Halloweens in the past have involved him screaming and freaking out because he HATES whatever he’s wearing. I think he could be dipped in battery acid and it’d cause less commotion.
So, when he actually came up with a costume idea that he was excited about, I ran with it. Even if the requested costume WAS Santa.
I traced a pair of pajamas for the pants and then cropped them and added fur.
I traced one of his older brother’s church shirts for the jacket, and then added fur.
The belt is a dollar store picture frame spray painted gold. Then I hot glued the end of the belt vinyl to the picture frame back and slid it into the frame and glued that in place, too. It closes with velcro.
And, for the very first time ever?
I have a kid who’s happy on Halloween!
Greatest. Belt. EVER!
So dang cute. I love the pair of them – Buddy and Santa. And now you're set for Christmas parties too!
He'll be a stand-out for sure!!! Everyone will want to be his friend…

I love it!! And I'm with you…let him be Santa if that makes him happy….because you will be happy too!
Perfect! I think it's a great costume!
Wonderful! He makes a great Santa.
what an adorable santa. I love the pure delight on his face. so cute!
AWESOME!!! And be glad you're in Utah. It's freaking 85 here today. He wouldn't be so happy in that Santa suit in this weather.
That is the best costume ever!!!! I never would've thought of being Santa!!! AWESOME! I love his smiling face!!!
LOVE IT! I went as Santa, a bijillion years ago. We receieved tons of compliments on my costume, be prepared for extra goodies being dropped in his bag.
The whole Aspergers thing makes it really hard sometimes, I currently have 3 costumes for my nephew and his mom has at least 2 just in case he changes his mind and suddenly HATES his costume, lol. Whatever make our lives a little easier, right?
ahh, a picture worth a thousand smiles! priceless!
So cute! You are such a great sewer!!! ( I know love being called that.) When I my kids were both 4month old, I dressed them as Santa for Halloween. One of them won $50 in a costume contest! I loved that!!!
That is an awesome costume! And seriously, how many Santas are there going to be out there on Halloween night? PLUS it's nice to see a happy and trusting symbol on a night when we are surrounded by creepy zombies, Grim Reapers, and all the scary Halloween stuff.
Great job!
He makes the most adorable Santa!!
Yeah! Best costume ever, just because he loves it!
ADORABLE smile!
I think your boot covers came out better than mine – to be posted soon.
You did a fabulous job. It's very original and a lot of fun.
Gawd, could that smile be cuter?
My son was Santa when he was 3 and it was SO freaking cute (not as cute as yours because I bought a cheap costume). You can always spot them in a crowd!
How adorable! And original, I've never seen anyone dressed up as Santa for Halloween. LOVE it!
He looks sooo sooo good. The costume is amazing!!! I can't believe you just whipped that up. I had to hot glue my costume LOL!
He is beautiful and I love his sweet smile. He certainly looks pleased with the costume. Happy Halloween!
Oh Yeah! I'm so happy for him! He looks adorable. You did a great job!

Seriously… a picture frame??? GENIUS,I tell you!
I love it! The costume is cute, HE is cute, and you can totally use it again in December! SCORE!
Delightful! Everything about it- but most especially, that last picture with that beaming face! Way to go Mama!
The weather network has been making wisecracks about people in our province dressing as santa and elves for halloween, we're supposed to get snow. Nothing so far though, so joke's on them! I think it's a cute idea, AND hello, Christmas card picture, here we come!
When my son was 2 he had one and only one hat he would put on his head, 12 months of the year. I knew I'd never get him into any costume that covered his head, so I created his costume around the hat. It was a little, billed baseball cap style that looked vaguely train engineerish. That's what he became, with the addition of overalls and a bandanna and a toy train to carry. It worked. He liked it. It's all about making them happy. That's the only rule.
The most creative belt. ever.
And what cute Christmas cards you will have! : )
What a cute costume and I can totally relate to the ASD/Sensory Issues. My son is 7 and for many years hasn't worn his costume. Of course, we live in Florida where it's HOT at Halloween!
It's so awesome Char.
Holy freakin awesome!! And he already has the bag for candy. Totally cute, I hang my head in shame for buying mine at Old Navy.
A Dollar Store Picture Frame! You are SO creative!
This is adorable! I am hosting a one-day costume party at my place to show off all our pictures. This would be perfect. I'd love to have you link up if you get the chance.
