Flickr Feature Friday

***Last call for entries in the Makia Creations giveaway. It closes at 10 pm MST tonight!***

Did you know Crap I’ve Made has a Flickr group? You can find the link at any time up on my menu bar under Crap You’ve Made. Go add your stuff! Please?

Projects from the Flickr group will be featured on Fridays.

Today’s features are both Sharpie tie dyeing.

First up we have Charity, aka Twins Squared. She decided to attempt it at a birthday party full of 4 and 5 year olds. And it worked out great!

And then we have this one done by my friend Cyl. I love how she actually thought about the design ahead of time unlike some people we know (hint: me).

My Makia Creation

***Don’t forget to enter the Makia Creations giveaway here***

The girls over at Makia Creations sent me one of their kits to try and review.

I am NOT a wood crafter. I like fabric. I’m a sewist (sounds better than calling yourself a sewer…just go with it). So, I thought if *I* could do this, ANYONE could.

They sent me the turkey kit with the snowman upgrade.

It’s supposed to look like this:

makiaturkey

and this:

makiasnowman

Could I do it?

I watched the instructional videos. (Seriously…all of them. They’re short, which is good if you want to watch them repeatedly to make sure you don’t screw up. And by “you” I mean “me”.)

It was then that I realized that I’d need some supplies on account of not being a wood crafter. That would probably be the only little snag in putting together my Makia Creation: I didn’t know what else I’d need. Maybe you seasoned wood crafters have all that stuff on hand? A list of additional supplies needed would easily solve that, though. Or (and this would be the smart thing to do), you could also add a supply kit to your order.

My Makia Creations project and review will be up later today.  I had to run out for a couple of supplies and I was out of daylight by the time I got finished.

In the mean time, enjoy these pictures of my fam at the pumpkin patch.

Procrastination and Progress

***Don’t forget to enter the Makia Creations giveaway here***

12 days ‘til Halloween.

And guess when I started costumes.

Yesterday.

I’d made some good progress by lunch time.

And after lunch, I got the trim on the jacket and the zipper put in.

And Santa’s pants are done, too.

Santa’s jacket is close…just needs fur on the bottom.

Heaven help me with the elf shoes!  Any tutorials for THAT?  LOL!

The Claire Witch Project*

Did you see the super cute witch hat applique pattern over on UCreate last week?

I did.

DSC_0254

And my niece Claire is rocking it. (Tangent: I swear she suddenly has WAY more hair than when I saw her 3 weeks ago.) She also has ruffles on the bum. The skirt is just a bunch of strips sewed side to side with a little waistband and then I hemmed it with bias tape.

Has anybody else tried the applique pattern? What other Halloween wear have you made?

*Totally ripped off the title from an email my SIL sent me.

And I’m adding another pic of the ruffles because they KILL me!

Remember the spooky soap dispensers from last week? I think Target’s probably wondering why they’re suddenly so popular.

My pal Tina made these (and had her friend with a Cricut cut the faces for her):

And brianneandfam made this one:

She cut the face by hand.

Kristina over at The Grassy Noall made this one using glittery fun foam instead of vinyl.

Has anyone else made the soap dispensers? Go upload pics to the Flickr group or link me to your blog and I’ll add them to this feature post!
