Pot lid rack turned book holder

Get one of these. Mount it to the wall. You’re done, and all for the bargain basement price of $2.99. For some reason that link makes it look like there are 6 rungs. There aren’t. If you need 6 rungs, buy two or find another project.

Idea from here.

Got ribbon?

My ribbon scraps were way, way, WAY out of control. The basket was overflowing. Thankfully, my friend Leilani posted this idea a while back (along with a whole lot more fabulousness). I finally remembered to pick up clothespins last week when I was at JoAnn’s, but they sucked. So, I got some replacements at Dollar Tree this weekend and they worked perfectly.

Something for my own kid

You know….because he needs more clothes. And shoes. And leg warmers.

Onesie and shirt dyed w/Dylon in Velvet Black. Sabe swears by Dylon. I’ve used it twice now, and it’s like 400 times better than Rit.

So, I lied.

I swore I could never put a baby boy in BabyLegs. And then they were the BabySteals deal of the day. And I bought some. And then I bought some more. And now I’m hooked. The kid owns 6 pairs already. Someone stage an intervention.

Onesies, for a new baby

(and hopefully none of her sisters had an anaphylactic reaction to the meal I took them….you have no idea the amount of anxiety that caused me!)

The other wrap dress

For Sheri’s kid. The pattern comes in a 2/3 or a 4/5. Kelly’s more of a 3/4 and so is Campbell. You can see where this is going, right?

The fabrics came from the wall of cottons at Hancock’s. I made my own double fold trim for the neckline (using one of these) instead of using bias tape. I couldn’t find a brown that matched well enough for my OCD tendencies. I also used some of the trim for the outer tie instead of ribbon — again with the brown issue.

Fabric flowers

These are going to become hair clips to match another wrap dress.

If you want to make your own, you will need:

  • Fabric scraps, I used 2 different coordinating prints
  • Wonder Under
  • Flower template of your choice, I used the small one found here
  • Button for center, I used fabric covered ones
  • Needle and thread

I cut 2 3″ X 6″ rectangles of each fabric and 2 3″ X 6″ rectangles of Wonder Under.

Iron Wonder Under to wrong side of one rectangle of each fabric.

Peel off the paper backing. I realize this picture looks pretty much exactly like the last one. Shut up.

Put the wrong sides together and iron again.

Now you should have 2 sided fabric.
Trace/pin/whatever your flower shape to your fabrics and cut out. I doubled it up so I wouldn’t have to cut so much. I’m lazy like that.

You should have 4 flowers, 2 of each fabric.

Stack your flowers, alternating fabrics.

If you’re using a regular button, skip this next part. If you’ve never covered a button before, don’t be scared. It’s super easy. Cut out a circle in the shape of the template that comes with the buttons.

Put the fabric in the white thingy and follow the directions on the button package.

I take a stitch or two through the 4 layers of flowers before attaching the button, just to make sure stuff doesn’t shift around. Then, sew on the button. Tie it off on the back. I like to wad up my flower a bit aftewards so it has some dimension. Attach the flower to a clip or pin or whatever. This one found a home on a purse I made a while ago.

(Don’t look too closely…there’s a little blood on that button in the center.)

Dear Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory,

I’m addicted to your apples (thanks Tam). I don’t even balk at paying $5 a piece for them. Mostly. I have started making my own version of the apple pie apple. Don’t judge. Casey does it too. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah…PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY, DO NOT SELL ANY MORE OF THAT DISGUSTING KEY LIME APPLE!

Framed memo board

I used this tutorial (only her frame is way more awesome and definitely not from IKEA). Fabric is more Heather Bailey leftovers from the ironing board project.
