You know that fabulous Eddie Ross wreath?

This one.

Everybody’s making them, and I’m a follower….a cheap follower.

So, I loaded up the fam and headed for Dollar Tree. I found plenty of ornaments and almost everything else I needed. They were out of white glue. Weird.
The line to check out was long and winding.
Bennett was about 10 minutes into nap time, so I asked BC to take him and Campbell out to the car and get them buckled. That just left me with the 2 big kids. Smooth sailing, right?
Wrong. Very wrong.
I heard a crash. 50 shoe box sized plastic storage bins went down. And a Scotch tape display. And 2 boxes of bubble mailers.
*sigh*
Guess who spent the next half an hour re-stacking storage bins?
At least the wreath is cute?

    Looks good!

Don't worry, my 2 boys and I are constantly making a scene in stores. My 11 month old can clear a shelf in seconds flat.

  2. I literally gasped at my love for the colors in your wreath! If I knew I'd get those same exact colored bulbs, I'd totally do this one. And you know that's saying A LOT, lol.

  3. Oh no. Your wreath did turn out really cute though. I blogged about your peace sign ornaments on my Friday Favorites. Very cute!

27 years later I still recall when my daughter mowed down a display of pickle jars with the shopping cart. I was mortified!!!!! But we laugh now!

P.S. Don't kill your kids. That's something we would have done while we were screwing around.

  13. Just found your blog! Love IT and the NAME! Can't wait to explore some more.

Ahh, I remember those days of shopping bliss (not!) when my boys were little. As for the wreath . . . seen it all over . . . love it . . . and I'm following along too! Just picked up my supplies at WalMart few days ago. Can't wait to see if mine turns out as nice as yours.

  14. Al, Wendy, Max, and Lil says:

I love these wreaths! You executed yours magnificently. My dream desire, though, is to make one of those wreaths using costume jewelry. Rhinestone pins, earrings, etc…smothering a velvet ribbon wrapped wreath form. I have yet to collect enough pins, etc… but I am working on it. When I am 65 it will be done!

  15. I love it. We will be making one very soon.

  16. Rosie and Derek says:

    LOVE it!!
And LOL about the little accident at the Dollar store. :)

  17. i actually like your wreath better! i am a cheap follower too and i will be making one of these wreaths too! thanks for the idea.

  18. So cute!! I saw those ornaments the other day but didn't know what to do with them. Now I do! Can you post a tutorial??? I don't know where to start!

  19. looks great. i went to Dollar Tree a couple of weeks ago to buy the stuff to make them. But all they had left was red and gold, and I wanted the silver/green combo.

  20. Wes and Dani says:

You can't go wrong with Dollar-Store Bulbs! (Sorry to hear your kids plowed through a display or two. ;))

  21. Joni Walton says:

Great idea! Thanks for the tip. now I just need to find a wire hanger. :)

  22. brown paper packages says:

Okay, and I here I was thinking I was all original or something! I hadn't seen that Eddie Ross wreath or any other like it (gorgeous btw), and thought I would try making a wreath out of ornaments, lol. I think I still will…I love it!

  23. so, can you give me step by step instructions? Or just come over and help me make one?

  24. I just wanted to let you know that I am featuring this post on my blog today along with other ideas that I am finding for Christmas crafts. I do have one question, how many ornaments did you end up using? I just want to make sure that when i go to get them I get enough. Thanks

  25. If you click the "This one." at the beginning of the post, you'll get to the full tutorial.

I used about 70 ornaments, but that would vary slightly depending on the size of your hanger and the size of your ornaments.

I also bought my hanger at Dollar Tree.

    Hope that helps!

  26. Kristine Robinson says:

I am in love with this and want to make is ASAP! Is it easy enough for someone with no talent like me to do?? And next time call me, your kids can come to my house and play while you shop. Then maybe I can get something done!

  27. It turned out great. I was just at the Dollar Tree the other day and noticed they have the cutest ornaments this year!

  28. Chad and Amy says:

finally something to keep me busy during the holiday weekend. And also something to get rid of the millions of wire hangers from the dry cleaners.
Oh and don't worry about the kids we've all been there. Mine just happened to set off the fire alarm once at Michaels. Why do they put a bench under the fire alarm??? I say it was their fault for being so stupid.

  29. Lacie @ Creative Attempts says:

I am so jumping on this bandwagon I loooove your version!

  30. it wasn't me i swear it was totally Keller's fault. He even admits it.

  31. mydogsrule says:

Neat idea! If I thought ours would last for more than five minutes, I'd consider making one :) Nice job!

  32. I'm off to town in a few minutes & Dollar Tree is on the way (if I go out of my way). I'd sacrifice our ornaments if I thought my DH wouldn't complain, but of course he would! This will be so much fun especially if my 20 month old is asleep when I get home — at least my other 2 store-wreckers are at school.
As a side note, does anyone know how much one of these wreaths cost retail?
    =) Gayle

  33. I bought the same ornaments from Dollar Tree, but I am having a hard time making mine look right. :-( I will try again, though, after seeing how great yours looks!

  34. heavenlygurl says:

I know Christmas is way gone… but I had to say this ornament wreath is simply gorgeous… I plan to make a couple for next year. Thanks for sharing…
