Big ideas

I had to run to Target early yesterday morning for a birthday present. In an attempt to avoid the re-stocking madness, I cut through the bedding aisle
I picked up these:

I’ve got a plan.

If it turns out the way it looks in my head, it’s going to be awesome.

If not?

At least I’m only out $12.

A new holiday?

Here’s the lunch menu my kids brought home from school:

Check out the 15th.

I wonder what I’m getting!

Valentine Chair Backer

I bookmarked this tutorial from Amy at Our Scoop last year.

We’re making them for sewing group next week.
(Thursday @ 7, my house, treats!)

I needed to do a quick run through first so I don’t screw anyone up and so I just used supplies I had on hand.

I can’t wait to make REAL ones.

Campbell’s giddy about the “new backpacks”. I think this will be a fun new tradition.

Handmade Valentines

Some of you may know that I have a tiny little obsession with making my kids’ Valentines. Remember last year?

Yeah. I still twitch every time I walk past a display of those little boxes of conversation hearts.
This year, I’m doing something a *little* less time consuming. My friend Alissa made these last year:

Get the details here.
Do you make Valentines? Got a great idea you want to share? Did you make something fabulous last year? Here’s a MckLinky party for just that purpose! I’m leaving it open through February 16th, so even those of us that procrastinate can participate. Please link ONLY to the actual post or idea, not your blog’s home page. Those links will be removed.

ALMOST back to your regularly scheduled programming

I have a couple more things to move around and change.
SO close.
I think the whole look will be much cleaner and easier to navigate when I’m through.
I’ve added a menu bar up top, just below my header. Only about half of the links go anywhere right now. I’m working on it!
If your blog needs a menu bar, check out this tutorial.

Headers and scrolling blog buttons

Q: How did you make your new header?

Disclaimer: The only photo editing software I have is little old free Picasa.
I cropped the 4 pictures I liked using the “Square/CD Cover” option. Then, I selected all 4 pictures and clicked on the “Collage” button. I picked the “Grid” option and then changed the aspect ratio to 4 X 1 (because I had 4 pictures and I wanted them in one row). Click “Create Collage” and you’re almost there. Next you’ll need to log in to Blogger and go to the “Layout” tab. Click on the “Edit” button in your header and upload your image. BE SURE TO CHECK THE BOX TO SHRINK YOUR HEADER TO FIT. I missed it the first time, hence the 3 page wide header that some of you encountered.
Q: How did you get your buttons to scroll like that?
(See the right hand sidebar under “I get around”)
Emily from Not So Idle Hands directed me to this tutorial over on Be Different…Act Normal. In the first box of code, I changed the “left” to “up”. And then I copied and pasted the html codes from all my buttons.

Button, button, who’s got the button?

It’s official.
Crap I’ve Made now has a button. It’s nothing to look at, but it’s funny….kind of like me. Ha!

You can make your own using this tutorial from Little Miss Crafty Pants.
I’ve decided I’m going to include ALL of your links from this post, just have them rotate so that the most recently updated are displayed. Sound good? Hopefully I’ll get to that once the kids are in bed tonight. Go add yours if you haven’t yet!

Pardon the dust

I’m in the midst of a little bloggy overhaul.

I apologize to anyone who stopped by yesterday before I figured out my header (and you had to scroll over 3 full screens to see it all). I know nothing about html or pixels or design. Anyone want to help? (Only sort of kidding.)

I’ll be updating my blog list sometime this weekend.

Want to be included? Leave me a comment with your blog address.

And because posts are always better with pictures, here’s my grandpa reading to Bennett yesterday.

A little help, please?

I bought some fabric.

Like, 35 fat quarters.

I’m making a quilt….I just have no idea what kind. Suggestions? I have the Turning Twenty pattern. Should I start there?

And if you’re looking for a mindless easy crafty project, try these flowers from Heather Bailey. My neighbor and I made a bunch last Friday night whilst we sat and chatted until the wee hours of Saturday morning. These are just mine.
