Help a blogger out

I’ve owned/worn the same pair of Doc Martens sandals since Christmas of 1998.

That’s right.  These puppies have been with me longer than all of my children.

  1. Try Nuture(you can find them at Dillards) bc even those with a bit of heel are very comfy and I'm a flip flop girl. A good but reasonable priced flip flop is Ocean Minded. You can find them thru Piperlime and they are great without a huge pricetag. Good luck on your search! I too was sad when my Doc sandals died.

  2. Resweater says:

I love Birkenstocks. I get a bad back with cheap shoes & sandals, but I can walk for miles in Birkenstocks.

  3. kirsten says:

I've worn doc sandals for years, too. and then I've bought cheaper sandals for a couple of years that WILL fall apart before summer's over. don't do that.
this summer i bought some birks (because they last forever, too) like these:
    http://www.zappos.com/birkenstock-granada-hunter-black-leather
except I found them at famous footwear and they were about half of this price. Also they're a lighter brown… good luck!

  4. the thrifty ba says:

i just found 7+ pages on brown sandles over at zappos. ck those guys out.

  5. modrocker says:

Naots are the best sandals I have ever worn: http://www.zappos.com/womens-naot-footwear-sandals

They're a bit pricey but as with Doc Martens, you get what you pay for.

  6. one word…Dansko

  7. Natalie says:

ahhhh you have to get rid of the frumpy mom shoes! im telling you get some cute sandals like these

    http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=458906&CategoryID=45350

its a lot easier to walk when you don't have like 10 pounds strapped to your feet. don't mean to be rude but just trying to de-frump the world! (im guilty of wearing those exact same sandals, but i have since learned my lesson ;)

    good luck!

  8. Try out a pair of keen sandals. And on the side, grab a pair of reefs. Happy shopping to you!

  9. looneymom says:

I love Earth Shoes. Here are some that I would love to have for myself!

  10. Valarie says:

    I got these-

    http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/shoes/womens/sandals/PRD~417029/Croft+and+Barrow+Radiance+Sandals.jsp

on sale for 50% off, naturally. they probably fall into the frumpy mom category, but I wouldn't be me if they didn't…

  11. I am a Doc Martin Sandal lover as well … in the winter I have the same 2 pairs of Doc Martin clogs I wear … I always get all of them on eBay … best prices … especially when someone buys them and wears them once and thinks they are too heavy …

A couple of years ago I did purchase a pair of chaco sandals from zappos and holy cow if they aren't the best shoes i have ever worn … more comfortable than the keen's i tried … the danskos … my beloved birkenstocks and yes even the doc martin sandals … but i do love them so much that i still wear them on occasion … but the chaco's blow them all away … i now have 2 pairs of them … and they last forever …

  12. I just threw my old Docs out yesterday! Or was it Tuesday? It's a blur. I still need new ones, too. Good luck!

  13. I'm almost willing to BUY you a pair of shoes Char. Those are an abomination.

I can tell you're into comfort, so I submit to you this slightly more feminine Naturalizer brand mule.

In fact, drop everything and meet at the Nordstrom Rack so we can fix this situation STAT.

  14. Melanie says:

I like Kate's pick for naturalizer (those can sometimes be too frumpy), but I LOVED the earth sandals that looneymom recommended. I think I might go pick out a pair of those for myself. Anyway, happy hunting!

  15. Cheryl @ a pretty cool life. says:

You can never go wrong with Birkenstocks…

Rainbow (the brand) flip flops are also SUPER awesome!

  16. Ooh I like Kate's! Here's another cute Naturalizer one. http://www.myshoes.com/naturalizer/falconette/brown/sandals
Your poor sandals are hammered. I don't even know how you've gone so long with them! I like MyShoes.com… you can specify exactly the type of shoe you want and it'll bring up all of the manufacturers, stores, etc.

  17. Goodwin Family says:

I second the Rainbow brand flipflops. SO comfy and they'll replace them for free if they ever wear out. Can't beat that!

  18. Born. I love Born sandals and shoes. Soooo confortable.

  19. NillaWafer says:

I love Doc Martens but they don't make them like they used to. I vote for Born or Dansko.

  20. A Baby Peach says:
  21. Wow. What a testament to well made shoes…although, it is definitely time for you to make the investment in a new pair :)

My favorite comfort sandal brand may be Born – love them!!! I think this pair is really cute and could be work with just about anything.

  22. PeaceLoveApplesauce says:

    1. Throw these away and NEVER look back! They were only in style in 1998.. HA!
    2. Visit Piperlime.com
    3. You can Thank me later. ;)

  23. Rebecca Kline says:

I don't even know you, but I have to say that Born sandals are wonderful. I have a pair that I've worn for 6 years almost everyday here in SoCal. These are cute and you can always look in Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack for cheaper ones.
    http://www.shoes.com/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?p=EC1211676&pg=5121263

  24. I've been eyeing these. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0077717824806a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=clarks&Ntk=Products&sort=all&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1
Nothing is ever going to be able to replace the ones you have though. I had some simple's almost as long and It was a sad day when they could no longer be safely worn. I've searched everywhere for a replacement… even looked for…ahem…used ones on ebay! I loved them THAT much!

  25. Not so Molly Mormon Afterall says:

I can so relate! I am on the hunt for a pair of adidas slides that make my feet feel oh, so wonderful!

I've been blog stalking you for a long time and I've even made some of your "crap".

Thanks for the pick me up today!

  26. Wendy Roberts says:

Dansko, Birkenstock, Keen, all good, but I LOVE White Mountain Sandals!

  27. Brittany says:

I still have a pair of leather Doc Marten sandals that I bought in high school! But my sister talked me into a pair of Tevas that I picked up on Zappos and they are so comfy! I am on my feet all day and they are awesome. They have a lot of different styles in leather and other materials. They are so great!

  28. Megilon says:

It is sad when a favorite pair of shoes dies. I like Birkenstocks and they have a lot of cute options. I also like born sandals they are really comfortable.

  29. Try Born. Super comfy, quality sandals. Can be found discounted at TJ Maxx and Marshalls, if you're lucky. Totally worth the moo-la.

  30. THE ZELLERS says:

Chaco's are worth their weight in gold. My favorite pair (I've got 8!) is the first one I bought, 10 YEARS AGO. They'll even re-sole and re-strap them. That's on my to-do list. I also vote Birkenstock. Living in central Texas, I've either got Chacos on or Birkenstocks, all.year.long.

    Good Luck!

    dansko sandles
I have the sela and the mila styles….they are so soft on the inside and so so comfy,.. not your normal dansko clogs..
make sure you get properly sized, then check out pricing on ebay, usually a little cheaper.

  33. chaco sandals would be a good choice..they're pretty cool and well made specially for the footwear needs..

  34. I’m really loving the theme/design of your blog. Do you ever
run into any browser compatibility problems? A number of my blog visitors have
complained about my website not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome.

Do you have any recommendations to help fix this issue?
