We packed up the old van and drove to Nebraska last week.
Yes, on purpose.
Some of us are better travelers than others.
Apparently he prefers 15 hour car rides to trips to the bounce house place.
Before we left, I got a new camera, and I’m pretty sure I want to marry it. I’ve taken approximately one bajillion pictures already. Most of them are super awesome, like this shot in the dark gym at an elementary school orchestra concert:
or this shot in a Walmart parking lot:
This picture?
ISO 3200.
My old camera maxed out at like 1200.
Random subject change alert!
My kids’ school does an egg drop every year. Basically, your kid makes some sort of container to protect a raw egg and then the custodian gets up on the roof and throws it off. If the egg breaks, they get a piece of candy for participating. If the egg doesn’t break, they get a (slightly bigger) piece of candy for participating.
There are no restrictions or guidelines that I’m aware of. For example, one year Macy embedded her egg in a box filled with Jell-o. I put BC in charge of Keller’s entry this year.
What in the crap is that???
I’m pretty sure that egg is NEVER coming out, broken or not.
I’ve got an announcement coming up a little later today. I’ll be back.
I'm a Nebraskaner and I LOVE IT!!! But, I can't imagine road tripping with multiple children THAT far. You must be a saint! What part of Nebraska?
We went to Omaha, so we drove across the entire state.
I'm curious, did the egg break in jello?
Yeah, kids, eggs drops, road trips, blah blah blah…I want more on the pink-haired chick in the school gym.
I probably missed it in a previous post but what did you get for a new camera? I think I need to move beyond my point and shoot and am looking for suggestions. What type? Did you get any snazzy lenses or anything? Thanks!
I got a Nikon D7000. I stuck with a Nikon so I could continue to use the new lenses I got for Christmas. I have a 18-250mm and a 50mm.
Oh, Max is doing jello this year. He's super excited to see if it will work.
One of these days I'm going to take my super-duper camera off auto and re-learn photography! Yep, I'll let ya know how that's workin' for me….
my school used to do the egg drop thing. One year mine came in second or something–it was based on if the egg didn't break and then how much the "case" weighed. Glad you're home safe.
Holy Cow that egg is not going to move!
3200??? OMG I'm in Love.
And Hooray for Nikon! I'm still using an S3Pro.
Hmmmmm…Kinda makes me want to wrap myself in bubble wrap and jump off a roof!
My husband got the d7000 and I have totally claimed it as my own! Yay for Nikon!
