Giveaway: $50 Target Gift Card from Consumer Crew

So, maybe I already told you this story.

I’m old and I’m losing my mind.

Anyway, my oven blew up in September.  I opened the door to put in some brownies I was making for a friend and BOOM!

More like BOOM!

All the lights went out in my house.  I had 8 boys 7 and under here and they stopped dead in their tracks.  Power was out clear to the street.  A handy neighbor took care of that situation (possibly illegally Winking smile), but the oven was a goner.

Have you ever tried to take 4 kids appliance shopping (or even shopping for milk, really)?  You’ll wish you were going in for a lobotomy.  Trust.

A dear, sweet neighbor offered to take the kids so we could replace the oven that night.  Did I mention the dishwasher was dying a slow painful death and needed to be replaced, too?  We had to make some purchases and we had to make them FAST.  There really wasn’t time to research like I like to.  That’s where Consumer Crew comes in.

  1. Sergers I want to buy one but am paralyzed at the thought.

  2. Our stovetop has one burner that won’t work anymore so we are thinking of replacing the whole thing (it is a ceramic top so apparently it is hard to get just one element repaired). I would also like a more powerful sewing machine. Oh and a new laptop (but I am pretty convince I should get an apple).

  3. I followed them on Twitter.

  4. Stormy R says:

Cameras for sure! I want a new one to take lots of pics of the baby when she arrives, but there are sooo many options.

  5. Food would be awesome…like especially the new food products out there. I always want to try things, but don’t want to waste my money!
Appliances would be great too…we are in the market for a new fridge, range, & microwave and I know what looks good, but I want to know if they work good! :)

  6. Technology like ipads and phones for sure!

  7. I would like to know which camera and new sewing machine to buy since those are the two items I am starting to look for (because everytime I look, I feel overwhelmed).

  8. Definitely cameras!

  9. I would love a new oven. Mine is super old and cooks unevenly. I have to rotate my food half way through cooking to make sure the one side doesn’t burn and the other gets cooked! =)

  10. I would like them to review cameras – there is just so much to learn and know about them – confusing!

  11. Heather says:

I’d totally have them research a flat screen tv. I don’t even know where to begin. I don’t want the most expensive kind. I just want good quality at a great price!

  12. Cameras. I’m ready to move up from my Canon Power Shot but know NOTHING about cameras.

    • You shouldn’t have to become an expert in a technology before you can enjoy the benefits of it. Just send us a summary of what you are looking for and we will do the leg work.

  13. I’m always looking for a good mop. Regular mop or sponge mop or steam mop or swiffer or one with a bottle of cleaner attached? Definitely mops.

  14. Liz Brueseke says:

Definitely a fridge… ours is one we got for free and I’m always afraid it’s just going to die…

  15. Jamison says:

I have spent hours recently researching a new Canon digital rebel. I have one that I love, it’s now 5 years old and I ready to upgrade. When making a serious investment on a camera I could use some help with this decision. I am terrible with decision making to begin with, so this service would be helpful.

    • Half of our users are just like you. We’re here to provide peace of mind and confidence in your purchase, not to boss you around. We’ll do the grunt work to help you make the decision.

  16. Either bedding or a silhouette! :) (interesting combo, I know) ;) Thanks!

  17. Paula in MN says:

I have a long list, but what I really want and need is a dishwasher. The 12 year old female model and the 9 year old male model are not cutting it anymore.

  18. I need Consumer Crew to research toddler beds for me. We are almost at that point. I want a safe, but cute one at a great price!

  22. We are in the market for a new bed. I’d love them to research that for me!

  23. Looks very interesting. I always spend way too much time trying to get review of items I buy online. Right now I’m looking for a camera for my teen, guess that would be the first thing!

  24. Sergers…I want one but know nothing about them.

  25. I’d like them to review a few different sewing machines.

  26. Donna Bowes says:

Thinking about an above ground pool! Would love someone to do the research for me! Thanks for the giveaway!

  27. Ooooh
I need a new vacuum cleaner – canister, bagged. My olde one died. I knew it was coming and boy was it great for it to die on trash day! I just picked it up and put it right out side (the engine was burning up, I think it had a stroke)

    I also need a dishwasher.

AND I would like a sewing machine.
I have an olde one Singer 316G and would really like something versatile and good quality not made in China

    the end
    Have a nice week-end ~Rosemary

  28. Amy Amos says:

    Cameras!!! Love this website!!!

  29. I “liked” ConsumerCrew on Facebook. :)

  30. I’d like some research into the best vacuum cleaner in my budget. In other words, not those $500+ ones that are no doubt totally awesome but out of my price range.

  31. Donna Bowes says:

    Liked them on facebook!

  32. An oven. Ours is.. junk. I really need one new at some point, but research is such a flippin’ headache that I haven’t bothered starting. I really hate appliances, lol!
Although, vaccuum cleaner help would rock, too. Pet, child, stains, wax, thread… urgh. I kill vaccuums. :)

  33. Vanessa says:

A camera. Mine bit the dust

  45. Definitely something electronic, but not an ipad because I already know those are overrated.

  46. TV. Maybe if I had them check it out, I wouldn’t have two Sony’s with a blue blob on the sides. :)

  47. It looks like they already have the things I would need to research – appliances, computers, and cameras!

  48. Window air conditioners!

  49. Dishwashers!

  50. Kristen says:

Oh man the things I need to research…Nook color vs Ipad, a new camera, and my big stress lately a video camera!

  51. JennD (NC) says:

    Cameras!

  52. They should research top load non-”efficient” washers. My experience with “high efficiency” washers has led me to decide more water really is better. :)

  53. I am following on Twitter

  54. And I liked on FB. I also thought of something else they should research – breast pumps in various price ranges.

  55. Blenders & a vacuum. Can you tell I’m having a party? ;)

Laptop for my daughter, that wont break the bank!

  62. Pretty nifty little idea there.. I’d love for them to research the best computer to buy and printers and such to go with it. Im clueless when it comes to buying computers.

    • Thanks Debbie! There is a sea of computers and printers out there and the task is daunting. We’d be happy to help. Take advantage of the free trial to find exactly what you need.

  63. Hello! We have been pondering E readers in our family so I would use the Consumer Crew to help me pick the correct one so that I get more bang (or BOOM!!!) for my buck! Thanks.

  64. I LOVE to research purchases…it’s right up there with organizing a closet. Heaven! I just got an IPAD and I think it’s cool that I could research APPS. Crazy? That’s what I’d “research” right now.

  65. I’m in the market for a few big purchases- a vacuum, a TV, etc.

  66. A camera or a vacuum. I need a better one of each. Thanks!

  67. We just purchased all new appliances. Would have been nice to not do all the research ourselves! Next purchase (or at least dream one) a new laptop, or a new minivan!

  71. Johanna Mathews says:

I need some prices researched on smart phones.

  72. I could’ve used this site as we painfully researched and purchased a washer and dryer last week. I always search high and low for the big baby item reviews; double strollers, car seats, etc….

  73. My old computer is making noises like a jet engine taking off and I’m sure it’s time for an upgrade. It boggles my mind trying to dope out what kind of computer to buy and it gives me a migraine just thinking about making that purchase. I’d love to do it before this one bites the dust. I’d love for someone else to do my homework!

  90. Those large blow up self standing pools that are on sale right now? Do they really stay up? How often do they “pop”? How much water are we talking? I NEED to know!! Thanks!!

    • People online seem to love them. I’ve seen the best prices on Amazon. Make sure that you have a spot to put it that is completely level or you will have problems.

PS You are looking at 3,000 – 7,000 gallons of water depending on the size you get.

  91. Melissa T. says:

We are going to be first-time home owners soon and the most common appliances we’d have to buy are fridges and washers/dryers. 192. tennille says:

Lately my fridge has been making this metal whirling sound… no one seems to notice it or be bothered by it but me. It could be the fact that I’m pregnant with son #4 or the fact that the fridge is 17 years old, but… oh how I dream to have the luxury of crushed ice in the door! And about 2 months ago our Sunbeam 8 year old microwave decided that it had cooked enough Bacon & wanted payback… so it melted my Bacon cooker & broke the glass microwave tray. I showed it.. I can still cook Bacon on my new bacon cooker without a glass tray, it just doesn’t go around in circles anymore! So… that’s why I need help in the purchases area because the last time we bought an appliance, Sears sales boy sold me a broken hose with a washing machine wrapped around it!

  202. We need a DVD player, reasonably priced, that will last us a few years. Seriously, we have a pretty nice TV but we’re still hooking up our laptop to watch DVD’s. I haven’t bought one because I’ve been so confused by all the reviews on amazon and I got tired of reading about them!

  210. Is this weird?! I want to see which breast pump would be the best…too creepy tmi?!

    • (Camie, I don’t know if you’ll ever come back to see this, but I did a TON of research a couple years ago on breast pumps… I went for the Medela Advanced, where you can do both sides at once. You can even buy cheap avent bottles to hook into it!)

  211. Consumer Crew sounds awesome… I think I would use their research for either a new camera or a new fridge :-) (you know… in case I win the lottery that I don’t play!)

  212. Vacuum cleaners! We are in need of a new one, but I don’t know where to start. I don’t want to spend a fortune, but I’ve heard that most vacuum cleaners are pretty much the same. Spend $100 or $1000 and you’re getting essentially the same thing. It’s frustrating.

  213. We just bought an adorable German Shepard puppy. I’m now having panic attacks over the hair and plan to invest in a new vacumn soon. That research sure would come in handy!
