How was your weekend?
Did you do any work in the yard?
We did. And we gave a $10 thrift store find some new life and a new home on our front porch.
My mom and I were at a thrift store a few months back, following up on a Pyrex tip (yes, really), and we saw this teak table. It was $10 and we both NEEDED it. She drives a tiny little 2 seater and couldn’t actually get it home, so I won.
See how you can turn that middle part over? Fun, right?
Structurally, it was in great shape but the wood needed some love. And by “love” I mean “child labor”.
Yes, my 4 year old is wearing a Santa shirt in May…what of it?
And then we planted the shallow tray with some succulents
and added some gravel.
And a before and after shot:
Totally worth $10, right?
To see the rest of my $100 porch makeover (and some prettier shots of the table), come back tomorrow!
awesomeness!
That is an awesome awesome idea! I really love it!!
p.s. I’m still laughing that you commented about your four year old wearing a santa shirt!!
Love the table! And my kids are still wearing Halloween shirts so no biggie
Nice patio table and all, but I want to know the end of the Pyrex story!
Well, one piece was Fire King, one piece was super oxidized crap, and the other one was something I already had. I bought no Pyrex.
I think this is just adorable! Great job!!!
I love the table, and the child labor too. Obviously not New England, don’t think I’ve ever seen a short sleeved Santa shirt, lol! We do have lots of pyrex at fleamarkets and Goodwill up here, though.
This is very impressive! I love seeing the kids help

Apples and ABC’s
That’s amazing! I’m jealous!
Awesome makeover! (We always pressed our kiddos into service, too….that’s what they are here for, right? JK, JK)
That table was a terrific buy Char and you really made it fantastic! I love it.

My porch/ dump needs a major makeover too! I need to fine one of these $10.00 beauties!!! Totally genius, as always Char!
I can’t believe you found that table for only 10 bucks! The prices at our thrift stores have really gone up~would never find anything that great for that price. Good for you! Looks great!
Ooh! This is way cool! The succulents in the center brighten everything up!
Love it! I wish I had some child labor around…
Love the table with the plants in it and I love how you included the kiddos!
This is amazing!!

Nice
Nice transformation of the table. My little laborers are on strike so I have to do alot by myself while they just watch.
Can you outline the ” wood love ” part of the project? What did you do to make the wood look good again? Beautiful job- but my table doesn’t have an awesome built in succulent holder.
