Thanks for all the sock suggestions! I’m glad to know that there are others who share my “issue”. And some of you are way, way way more organized than I will ever be. I watched some American Idol and tackled the sock baskets last night. I’m free!
We’ve got a big bunch of crazy this weekend, so most everything crafty is on hold. I’m so whacked out that I even hired a housekeeping service. And look what they did to my toilet paper!

My partner Lindy made it through the decoupage round of CWTS. Her project was this phenomenal chest.
She hand painted the branches and decoupaged the birds. Her project for this week’s baby theme sounds insanely awesome and ambitious as well! I’ll remind you when you can go vote.

A Confession

My name is Char and I hate laundry.
Specifically, I hate matching socks. And, it’s gotten out of control.
Way way way way out of control.
See?
It’s too late for help. I think I’m going to buy everyone new socks and start over.
Yes, really.
So, do you have any tips to keep my from finding myself in this situation again in a few short months? (Especially if you have 3 little boys in a row who all wear white socks that look exactly the same, though apparently they’re not and leave them in weird places so complete pairs very rarely make it into the same load of laundry…)
Maybe I’ll just move to Hawaii and make them all only wear sandals.

We’re in the midst of a big old bedroom swap and someone (hint: Bennett) has decided he does not enjoy his new bed and that he needs to tell me about it every hour or so ALL.NIGHT.LONG. So, things are a mess and I’m exhausted. I’ll have the scripture case tutorial (U of U or other embellishments 
) for you shortly.

Silhouette Dust Cover

***This dust cover is for the original Silhouette SD (which was THE ONLY Silhouette when I wrote this post). I don’t have dust cover patterns for the CAMEO or the Portrait.***
So, you’ve taken advantage of one of the Silhouette deals and you’re LOVING your machine so much you can’t bear to put her in a drawer…what’s a girl to do?
Whip up a quick and easy dust cover, that’s what. And did I mention that you can make this out of a single fat quarter? ‘Cause you can!
Supplies:
Fat quarter
Silhouette Dust Cover pattern piece PDF (the bottom measurement will be 6 3/8″ when printed correctly)
Sewing machine with thread
About 15 minutes 
Turn your fat quarter so that one of the 18” ends is at the bottom. Cut off 14″ so you have a piece that is 18” wide and 14” high (the bottom piece in this picture).
Fold the top piece in half and cut out the pattern piece. You’ll have 2 opposite end pieces
Place the end pieces even with the bottom edge of your fabric so that the short end (of the end pieces) points out and start pinning.
Pin all the way around the end pieces and then sew with a 1/2” seam.
Then you’ll want to hem the bottom of the dust cover 1/2” all the way around. I folded and pressed a scant 1/4” and then another 1/4”. Stitch hem in place.
Put it on your Silhouette and feel much better about leaving her out to admire.
