Kitchen Art

Here’s another Dollar Store Challenge project!

DSC_0482

Supplies:
Frames ($1 each)
Silverware (2 for $1)
Spray paint
Fabric
Batting
Hot glue

DSC_0452

Take apart your frames, removing the glass and the backing. Spray paint them and the silverware.

DSC_0453 DSC_0473

While that’s drying, cut out a piece of batting the same size as the backing of your frame.

DSC_0475

I used a little bit of Fabri-Tac to hold mine in place. You could use hot glue or spray adhesive or get really crazy and not use anything!

Cut a piece of fabric slightly larger than your backing piece.

DSC_0477

Glue the edges up onto your backing.

DSC_0479

The corners don’t have to be super fabulous because the frame will cover them.

Put the fabric covered backing into the frame.

DSC_0480

Position your silverware on top.

DSC_0481

Hot glue in place, and you’re done!

  40. such a cute, colorful idea. i had to check the comments to see if anyone else mentioned something i noticed. laughing at myself because i guess i'm the only one to want the knife edge facing left with the spoon to the right and the fork on the left. i see that the two pictures are symmetrical, it's just that the one on the left is not positioned as my home ec teacher taught me eons (any i mean eons) ago. guess i have some OCD showing thru. your kitchen art sure looks cute!

  59. This is such a cute, simple idea! I included it in our Dollar Store Crafts Roundup on the FaveCrafts Blog: http://www.favecraftsblog.com/link-love-diy-dollar-store/

Let me know if you’re ever interested in publishing tutorials with us! :)

  60. I saw this on Pinterest and just created a set for my kitchen. I had some old fabric from my grandma’s sewing basket and I don’t sew, so I was looking for something cool to do with it and this was perfect. Love SO much. Thanks for sharing!

  61. this is awesome!
I did something with the same idea- Just used plastic utensils- much cheaper!

  62. I am doing this with my grandfather’s old silverware so I will skip the spray paint and putting in a shadowbox frame. The material background will be an old cup towel from his house.

  63. Definitely making this tomorrow. Then I will send one to my mother in law. She adores me thank god. Pretty sure it’s all the crafty gifts I send though.

  64. I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great. I do not know who you are but certainly you’re going to a
famous blogger if you aren’t already ;) Cheers!

  65. I did this – 4 of them. 2 are for my family reunion’s raffle table, 1 for me and 1 for my neighbor. I couldn’t believe how easy this was. I only purchased one can of spray paint – red, so the fabric was fabric that would compliment the red. I only planned on making 3, but since the flatware only comes in sets of 2, I made four. My neighbor’s kitchen is a cupcake theme and I couldn’t believe that I was able to find cupcake material. For my own kitchen, I went with burlap – perfect! I used two different “fat quarters” of fabric that I purchased at walmart for my family reunion. A perfect (and inexpensive) craft for what I needed! I’d post pictures, but I don’t see a button to share. Anyhow, thanks for the great post!

  66. I have read so many posts regarding the blogger lovers however this paragraph
is truly a fastidious article, keep it up.

Your favorite reason appeared to be on the internet
the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people
think about worries that they just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
