Paint Bucket Planters

DSC_0371-1

Supplies:
2 equally sized buckets (mine came from the paint department at Lowe’s and were about $6 each)
2 bolts ( I used 3/8” bolts that were 1” long)
2 nuts (same size as your bolts)
4 fender washers (same size as your bolts)
Pliers
Drill

Get someone stronger than me (at my house that’s BC) to un-bend the end of the handle on one of your buckets.

You’ll only need to do one side…you can maneuver the other one loose once one side is free.

Bend down the little metal things that used to hold the handle on.

Tap them down a bit more if you need to, so your bucket looks like this:

Turn it upside down and make sure it doesn’t wobble too much.

Place another bucket on top.

Using a drill bit slightly larger than the width of you bolts, drill a hole through the bottom of both buckets.

And then, drill another one. Both buckets should now look like this:

Put a bolt and a washer through the top and then a washer and a nut on the bottom and tighten.

Repeat on the other hole.

Fill with your favorite plants!

No, my porch isn’t usually that wet. I’d just sprayed it off and then the sun went behind a cloud and made for better picture taking.

I made a set.

And if you lived in SoCal, I'd be turning you in…did you know you can get fined in my city for hosing off your porch these days? Good times…good times.

  8. Char @ Crap I've Made says:

Oh sure, Sheri…they'll fine you for spraying your porch but they won't fine you for peeing in a carport? SoCal is JACKED.

  21. Very cute! Planters are so expensive and this one is way better!
But you might want to drill and leave a hole in the bottom because most plants will rot out without proper drainage

  22. Char @ Crap I've Made says:

Cait has a good point. My washers are not water tight, so I'm getting some pretty good drainage already.

  23. Jen @ tatertotsandjello.com says:
