Just keeping it real, folks.
Macy has this book:
We have others in the series and have found some fun projects in them in the past (Vaseline and Kool Aid lip gloss, for example).
We decided to try out a project that claimed you could turn a chip bag into a brooch (hate that word) type pin. Perhaps that right there should have been my “sign”, but we carried on. I had visions of something all Shrinky Dink-y and darling.
We preheated the oven to its highest setting:
We put the chip bag on a baking sheet:
And we sat down to begin our “up to 10 minutes” of baking.
About 10 seconds in, I suggested Macy turn on the oven light. This is what we found:
In 10 seconds.
We tried again at a much lower temperature and got this:
I still don’t think anyone in their right mind would wear it.
So folks….DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME.
You’re welcome.
Thank you for being honest… many would have never told a soul about their failed attempt.

is hosting a Craftastrophe Part from Wednesday. You DEFINITELY need to enter this! I was giggling…
LOL What was it supposed to look like? I like that you posted a fail. Many people don't realize that things don't always work out.
I think it depends on the kind of plastic you use. I tried it with some other plasticy stuff and it worked perfectly fine. However I just know how to figure out which kind of plastic it is here in Germany. There is a pretty good tutorial, maybe you can have it translated (google translator?) into english:

Oh we totally used to do that in high school! I had a fun-yun bag on my keychain! I remember some people had like 27 hanging from their backpacks. So funny. I hadn't thought of that in years.
{chuckle} At least you have an amusing story about it! Thanks…
I'm not sure why I think this is so hysterical.
This made me giggle, and not just because my son was up a three this morning:)
Hilarious and hideous!
Lame. Well, at least it didn't catch on fire! Thanks for the heads-up!
SOOO FUNNY!! I'm so sharing this with Becky!!
At least it gives you a reason to eat more chips! The more it fails, the more chips you get to eat
Haha, this was all the rage at my elementary school. It belongs in a I love the 90's book! Did you have to put salt on it or something? I remember we did more to it than just putting it in the oven.
You win some, you lose some
Lol, this really made me laugh! Thanks for sharing.
such a fail! but it brightened my day
Only in America would we take our food garbage and attempt to turn it into fashionable accessories. I think I have to check my daughter's copy of The Daring Book for Girls or whatever it is called, and hope this is not in it. lol
This makes me laugh. But I know how frustrating this kind of thing can be! Bummer. However, I know you, and your brain will be churning something better out…so, I'll stay tuned. How was camp?
If you put it in the microwave it will shrink up without burning or melting. I used to do this all the time.
Hey, the first one looks kind of like a flower! The second one looks like…a mini chip bag. Who wears a mini chip bag?!
But the first one is DEFINITELY a keeper. hehe
You should share this at CraftFail!
