that turned out awesome! it’s perfect. definitely no bonnet. if you could find some shaded glasses it would be awesome, but i don’t know where to start looking for those.
and wow – clean counter! we couldn’t do that at my house!
i have a wax museum project in school and im suposed to dress up as helen keller and make a speech a bout her and this is exactly what i need to dress up as!!!!!! this,my friend is NOT crap!!!!
I think that’s the most I’ve seen Macy smile! And holy cow, did you just whip that out TODAY?! You amaze me. And make me feel completely inadequate. LOVE the dress.
Very good! No bonnet. Also, I could teach Macy some sign language. I can teach her to say “I farted. Excuse me.” I figure that would make her classmates laugh. Not very respectful to Helen Keller, though.
Wow Macy! Love the modeling…who knew she had that in her? That dress turned out so well. She’s probably already done the book report now, but I say no bonnet.
I found your site when looking for a costume for my daughter’s Helen Keller wax museum project. She also chose Helen Keller as she has loved the books and information about this inspiring woman. Did you make the costume or do you have any ideas for a non-sewing Mommy on where to get such a great costume?
Your blog seems like its chock full of great ideas; like that silhouette machine you used for your son’s costume (great looking tool).
my daughter has to dress like her. can you find the pattern number please, i have searched and searched – your daughter is beautiful – the costume is amazing,.
My daughter has to dress up like Helen Keller when she do her oral book report. I have the same feeling with Diane. Yours is awesome.

Hi! I came across the http://www.crapivemade.com website when looking for a Helen Keller costume for my daughter. She needs to dress up like Helen Keller also and make a speech at school. The dress in the picture is perfect for that, your daughter looks really pretty on it.
Do you happen to know where I can find a similar dress? Would you be willing to rent it or sell it?

That’s adorable! She’s adorable…but no bonnet…that’s not Helen Keller-ish.
Straw hat with long ribbons hanging off the back?
Love the mugging.
By the title of your post, I figured you were putting dresses on your boys again. Macy’s a nerd! A really cute nerd.
I think that’s the most I’ve seen Macy smile! And holy cow, did you just whip that out TODAY?! You amaze me. And make me feel completely inadequate. LOVE the dress.
love it all, the dress, the posing, etc.
but… i think you should have just put her in a big, dark box. that’s how I imagine Helen Keller, anyway.
No bonnet.
I didn’t make it in one day. I have too many kids for that. :o)
I cut it out Tuesday, sewed most of it Wednesday, and put in the zipper, attached the collar, hemmed and sewed on buttons yesterday.
Why does Helen Keller only play piano with one hand?
Because she sings with the other.
Bad Ammon.
Cute dress. I wish I could whip something like that up, I would be the mom at the DI trying to find something. I say no bonnet.
And – - are you ever going to accept my friend invite on facebook? I promise to not stalk you.
Cute, you are for sure my most talented friend! I am always so amazed by your sewing skillz. Macy is as adorable as ever.
Very good! No bonnet. Also, I could teach Macy some sign language. I can teach her to say “I farted. Excuse me.” I figure that would make her classmates laugh. Not very respectful to Helen Keller, though.
That is hilarious! Love the ‘vogue’ poses.
Very very cute!!

Hi – Where did you get that dress from? My daughter has a 'thing' too and I just can't find something affordable…
Thanks,
Nira
Nira, I made it. I used $2/yard crap fabric from Walmart and a pattern that I got on sale for $1. I can look up the pattern number, if that helps.
My daughter has to dress as Helen Keller soon…. What pattern did you use?
