Pretty sure this is not *quite* what they had in mind

***Don’t forget to enter the Say It On The Wall giveaway here.***

Macy had Activity Days yesterday (a twice a month church thing for girls aged 8-11). They were instructed to bring a picture of themselves to make an ornament.

Here’s what my kid brought home:

She couldn’t just stick with a nice frame?

Weekend Giveaway: Earrings from GoodieJar

I’d like to introduce you to GoodieJar.

They make fabulous flowery earrings and pins (affordable, too!).

(That picture makes me WAY happier than it should.)

They have 3 basic styles of earrings:

And they come in a rainbow of colors.

The best part? (Besides the fact that I’m kind of obsessed with cabochon flowers in general right now), they’re only $5! AND, the earrings are buy 3 get 1 free!

GoodieJar sent me a pair of earrings to review and while I haven’t worn them myself (crazy allergy issue which we will not get into), I can tell you that they are even prettier in person and that the quality is fabulous.

What’s in it for you?

GoodieJar is giving one lucky Crap I’ve Made reader any pair of earrings in their shop.

Click on over to GoodieJar on Etsy and have a look around. Come back and leave a comment ON THIS POST saying which pair of earrings you’d pick.

How easy is that?

Giveaway ends when I get out of bed Monday morning and stumble down to the computer to close the comments. Winking smile

And if you are going to need more than one pair or don’t feel especially lucky, GoodieJar is offering all of you 10% off through December 20th using code “CRAPPY”.

Embellished Holiday Tee

***Don’t forget to link up your nativities to the Nativity Parade. Today is also the last day to enter the Baby Blvd. giveaway here. And, I’ve got a weekend giveaway that’d make the PERFECT stocking stuffer starting tomorrow morning!***

Let’s face it…if your mom does this to your violin in honor of your holiday concert, you pretty much HAVE to wear something festive to go along with it, right?

Remember when I embellished a cardigan using knit fabric I cut with my AccuQuilt GO! Cutter? Remember how I said I had to stitch down every single tiny petal to keep it from looking like wadded up toilet paper?

I figured out the solution…my old pal Wonder Under.

I fused wonder under between 2 layers of knit and then cut the knit with my GO! Funky Flowers die.

I layered and pinned and rearranged until I like where they were placed and then stitched them down. I did still go down the petal on 1 large flower in each grouping, but you’ll notice there’s no curling like before.

I think it’s a good compliment to the violin, and a technique I’ll definitely be using again.

My halls are decked

Don’t forget to join the Nativity Parade!

I got started early this year, on account of my Pier 1 post going up on Thanksgiving, but “get started” was about all I did. (Speaking of Pier 1…big fun and giveaways for you Utahans at 2 local Pier 1 locations next Wednesday. Stay tuned for the details. Or, if you’re not patient, you can check it out on Facebook now.) My tree sat in pieces with non-working lights in my family room for a week. We finally gave up and replaced it.

The stockings got hung.

And I turned my kids loose on the tree.

Every square inch is covered in ornaments.

But it might be my favorite one yet.

Santa’s bag is here, too (storing the throw pillows that aren’t festive Smile with tongue out).

There’s a little Christmas in the kitchen.

And some in the living room, too.

(Canvas came from Canvas People. You can get your own free 8X10 or $55 off any other size here.)

And now I should probably start shopping. Embarrassed smile

Playmobil Nativity

Don’t forget to link up your own nativities in the Nativity Parade!

I have a thing for Playmobil. I think it’s the nostalgia. My brother had a Playmobil set with a camping trailer when we were kids and it was awesome. I bought my boys a Playmobil pirate ship a few years back, but I think they were too young for it (R.I.P). Thankfully, the nativity has survived.

I wanted a nativity that my kids could touch and play with. I love hearing Macy read the story to my boys and seeing her supervise the initial set up (though it never stays the way she wants it).

One day I found a shark about to eat the baby Jesus.

Many times I find cars parked near the stable.

That’s kind of the point with this set…I want my kids to experience it.
