A couple of winners

I kid you not…the school called me this morning to come pick up a sick kid.  This was a kid who had not puked since Saturday (and did not puke…totally seems fine, fighting with his brothers).

*sigh*

And of course I was 30 minutes from home at the time.  BC cancelled a meeting and ran to pick him up.

My husband may not have a Christmas present if this keeps up.

*one more sigh*

At least I’d already been to Starbucks for my salted caramel hot chocolate?  Open-mouthed smile

The winner of the SNAP! ticket is Charlie from Attempting Aloha.

The winner of $25 to PartyLite is Shannon.  Please check your email and respond ASAP!

Is this thing on?

Well hello there, internet.

Did you think I’d died?

Tangent: Do you ever wonder if anyone would know if you died?  I mean like anyone on the internet.  No?  Just me?

We had a whole lot of puking going on ‘round these parts.  And, no one (NOT A ONE OF THEM) managed to hit the toilet even once.  We had puke on our sister.  We had puke in the van.  We had puke in a parking lot.  But the toilet?  Nope.  Not even close.

I’m dreadfully behind.

There’s nothing like a week of house arrest the week before Christmas to really screw up your plans.  No neighbor gifts have been handed out.  No Christmas cards have been addressed.  No presents for BC have been purchased.

But rhe washer on “steam sanitize” ‘round the clock for a week straight?  TOTALLY accomplished. Open-mouthed smile

So, I’m popping in to remind you that the SNAP! Conference ticket giveaway ends tonight.  I’ll be closing the PartyLite giveaway then, too.

I also wanted to give you a heads up about a super awesome giveaway coming your way next week (Thursday, the 29th) that could make up for the toaster your husband got you for Christmas, instead of what you really wanted.  Trust me…you REALLY want this.

XOXOXO

See you soon!

Glitter Ornaments

A few weeks ago I saw my friend Kristine McKay (of My Craft Channel fame) on Studio 5 (local morning show) doing a segment on glitter.  Macy’s been INSISTENT that our tree needs more white glitter, so the ornaments that Kristine made sounded like the perfect solution.  Plus, they were simple enough that I could make Macy make them herself.  Open-mouthed smile

D7K_8615

Basically, you pour some floor cleaner in an ornament, swirl it around, dump out the excess, add glitter, and shake.

I love how they look like frosty snowballs and aren’t super in your face glittery.  If you want SUPER glittery, you can for sure achieve that with a different color of glitter.  Check out these over on Things That Sparkle!

You can watch Kristine’s segment here.

Have you made any ornaments this year?

High Waisted Skirt Tutorial, revisited

Way back in August last year, I posted my high waisted skirt tutorial.

DSC_0684

I combined it with a 2 seam tutu to get this look:

DSC_0577

It’s probably my favorite skirt I’ve ever created (and it sews up SUPER quickly), but it kind of got lost in the shuffle last year….something about giving away a Silhouette that week, I think.  Winking smile

I decided to use that tutorial to make Macy’s Christmas skirt this year.

The result?

D7K_8572

True love.

The little red ribbon tied around the waist was the perfect finishing touch.

The only change I made from the original tutorial was that I increased the length of the skirt pieces to 24”.  Someone’s grown 5” in the last year, and it’s mostly leg.

So, give this one a second look, will ya?

PartyLite

This post brought to you by PartyLite Simple Pleasures Holiday Sweepstakes. All opinions are 100% mine.

Are you familiar with PartyLite?  I’d heard of the name, but didn’t have any experience with the company.  So, when I was approached about hosting a PartyLite party and then blogging it, I thought hey…why not?

pl

Apparently I’ve been living under a rock, or we Utahans don’t get out that much, because PartyLite is the #1 direct seller of premium candles and home-fragrance products IN THE WORLD.   Their products are sold through direct sales (home parties) and on-line in every state in the U.S. and in 17 other countries.  They tell me this means that there’s a PartyLite party going on somewhere in the world every 18 seconds!  Why haven’t I been invited?  LOL!

pl5

I’m excited to get to know PartyLite a little better because nothing changes my mood quite like a fresh scent.  It’s not Christmas until it smells like a tree, right?  It’s not Autumn until it smells like pumpkin.  PartyLite provides a number of different products (scented candles, candle warmers, home décor accessories, reed diffusers, and more) that allow you to redecorate and refresh easily and inexpensively.

So, I’m hosting a PartyLite party (January 4th, 6:30, my place).  If you’re a local, and you can prove you’re not a murderer/rapist/psychopath, shoot me an email ([email protected]).  I’d love to have you come, too.  We’ll experience this together.  I promise the food will be fabulous.  Or at least chocolaty.  Winking smile

Not local/way afraid of me but still want to see what PartyLite has to offer?

I’ve got a couple fabulous ways for you to do that.

1) Host a party yourself!  Have some friends over for lunch or have a ladies night out.  See what PartyLite has to offer.

2) Enter to win one of five $500 gift certificates in the PartyLite Simple Pleasures Holiday Sweepstakes between now and December 15th. (Perfect timing because the PartyLite Winter/Spring 2012 catalog comes out on the 16th.)  FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS, TIMES FIVE!!!  That might even be enough stuff to cover the smell of 3 little boys for the next several years!

3) One lucky Crap I’ve Made reader will win $25 to PartyLite by clicking on over to the PartyLite Facebook page, liking them, and then coming back and leaving a comment ON THIS POST saying that you did.

So, stay tuned.  I’m going to order a few things and check out PartyLite for myself.  I’ll be sure to keep you posted (pun totally intended).

Giveaway: Cut It Out Frames

Let me introduce you to Cut It Out.

CutItOut

I attended the Oh Sweet Sadie! art and gift show back in September with my pals Becca and Lara.  Whilst we were there, I saw these delightful frames.  I somehow resisted (Becca won a gift certificate and totally caved), but I scratched down their website on my hand for later.  I knew I’d need one some eventually. So, FF a couple of months, when I was asked if I wanted to review some of their frames I jumped at the chance.

The frames come unfinished (for maximum craftiness/color perfection) in A TON of different sizes.  Some of the larger ones don’t include glass, but a dollar store frame swap out will work on the 8 X 10’s.  I priced glass for a 16 X 20 at Hobby Lobby and it was $9.99.  Plus, they ALWAYS have a coupon, so you’re looking at like $6 tops.

I’m DYING at how cute my 16 X 20 Grace oval frame is.  I love it so much that coming up with the perfect project is going to take me a while.

Let me show you what I made with one of the smaller frames, and then we’ll get to giveaway, mmmkay?

D7K_8478

I used the 8 X 10 Grafton frame, painted white.  I added a knob from Hobby Lobby and some background paper and a monogram.

D7K_8485

You could use the knob for a jacket or a purse.  We’re making our bathroom cuter, one towel at a time.

D7K_8498

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

Would you like a Cut It Out frame for yourself?  Cut It Out (I keep making Joey Gladstone jokes in my head) is giving THREE lucky Crap I’ve Made readers his/her choice of 8 X 10 frame!

TO ENTER:

Click on over to Cut It Out.  Have a look around.  Come back and leave a comment ON THIS POST (on the blog, not on Facebook or in response to your email subscription) saying which frame you’d choose if you won.  That’s it.  I’m such a giver!

Giveaway is open to US residents age 18 and over only and closes Friday, December 9th, at 10pm MST.  Winner will be chosen at random using a WordPress Plugin (And The Winner Is…) and notified by email.  Winner has 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen.  I was provided with product to review but received no monetary compensation.  All opinions are my own.

Looking for another chance to win?

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of crappy-ness

I’m not myself as of late.  I suspect some of you have noticed.

I don’t want you to worry.

I don’t want you to feel sorry for me.

It’s life.

We all have crap.  Some people have health crap.  Some people have job crap.  Some people have family crap.  No one’s crap is any better or any worse than anyone else’s crap…it’s just different crap.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking…reflecting, even.  I went back and read over my resolutions for the year:

I want to visit Omaha. Done.  I have the check stub for BC’s $150 speeding ticket in Wyoming as proof.
I want to say NO more often.  This one is still a work in progress. Winking smile
I want to say YES more often. This was in reference to my kids.  I need to ask them about this.
I want to yell less and laugh more. Epic fail.
I want to DO more and worry less.
Fail.
I want to take more naps. I think I’ve done OK on this one. Smile with tongue out
And, I want to stop buying diapers for the first time since 2000. I don’t dare say it aloud, but we haven’t used a diaper since last Wednesday.  Could this be the end of an era???

photo (19)
Yeah…I did it again.  I posted a picture of a kid on the toilet.  The comments and emails telling me I was a horrible parent who better start saving for therapy last time obviously had no effect on my cold shriveled heart.  So, don’t waste your energy this time.  Open-mouthed smile

I’ve let people down.  I’ve said I’d do things for people when I really should have said no.

I’m sorry.

I’m monumentally behind on emails.

I’m sorry.

The reality is that something’s gotta give.

I’m working on it.

I’m not sure what the point of this post is, but I feel like I owe you all an explanation for the lack of creative awesomeness going on ‘round these parts.

And, I wanted to reiterate what I posted on Facebook on Thanksgiving:

I’m grateful for all the usuals (family, friends, health, Diet Coke), but I’m also thankful for YOU. Blogging has introduced me to so, so, SO many people that I needed in my life. Some make me laugh until I can’t breathe. Some inspire with kind words in an email on days I’m ready to throw in the towel. Some make me want to be better and do more. Thank you for touching my life.

XOXOXO
